Hewitt & Gilpin Host Workshop on Charities Law and Funding Opportunities

Diane Dodds MEP was the invited guest of Hewitt & Gilpin Solicitors, Belfast at a recently held workshop focusing on sources of funding for Churches, and the legal obligations facing faith based groups who apply for funding, particularly in light of the continued implementation of the Charities Act (NI) 2008.

Hewitt & Gilpin Host Workshop on Charities Law and Funding Opportunities

Commenting after the event at the Park Avenue Hotel, Belfast on 6 June 2013, Diane Dodds MEP said; “it was good to be in East Belfast again and I want to thank Hewitt & Gilpin Solicitors for the kind invitation to come along to meet some of the Churches and other groups they work with within the area.

Over recent months I have held many workshops across Northern Ireland highlighting my latest funding directory “Signposts to Funding for Churches and Faith Based Groups”.

Well over 1,000.00 people have attended and indeed many have gone to successfully apply for some of the funds outlined.

The key message is that opportunities do exist, and that Churches can apply and access funding”.

Graeme Hamilton, Director at Hewitt & Gilpin Solicitors, added:

“As the Charities Act (NI) 2008 continues to be implemented, it is vitally important that Churches and faith based charities are fully aware of new and additional obligations imposed on them by law.  Hewitt & Gilpin Solicitors are organising a number of events for such groups over the course of 2013/14 to ensure that they are made aware of this changing legal landscape.

In addition, historically such groups have been unaware of the extent of funding opportunities available to them.  We are delighted that Diane Dodds MEP was able to attend this event to highlight these opportunities”.
